Interested in donating your used hardware?

We currently accept the following items:

     Monitors (CRT/LCD)
     Keyboards
     Mice
     Speakers
     Towers
Other functional computer components (ie Hard drives, cd-roms, etc)
Conact us about any other items you are interested in donating.

All hardware should be in normal 'working' condition. We do not currently support recycling operations. There are two main recycling plants located in Sioux Falls: Advanced Recycling (Map) and Millenium Recycling (Map). Millenium takes all electronics except CRT's at no cost. Each has their own policy about what they accept, so call ahead to check before you go. If you are interested in donating hardware then use the contact us form.

What happens to my personal data?
Hard drives that are smaller than 1 GB will be rendered completely unusable and sent to a recycling plant. Hard drives that are larger than 1 GB will be erased using Department of Defense guidelines(5220.22-M) by writing a series of "1" and "0" to the entire drive structure. This eliminates the possibility of anyone recoverying data that was stored on the drive. We do not have data back-up services at this time, so please back-up any data you have before you donate your computer.

Who can donate?
Anyone who finds this site is eligible to donate. This includes, but is not limited to: other charitable organizations, private citizens, businesses, and pretty much anyone else. If you are interested in making a donation then contact us via the form located here.

What happens to my hardware donation?
All hardware donations that we receive will have the hard drive completely erased. An operating system will be installed on the computer if requested. Linux/Unix systems will have no associated administration fee. Microsoft Windows XP will have a $10 administrative fee and office productivity software can be provided upon request with an additional $20 administrative fee. Depending on what you donate, your hardware will be matched up with other donations to create a full system: monitor, tower(processor, hard drive, cd-rom, etc), keyboard, mouse, and speakers(optional). These computers will then be available at minimal cost to those in the community.
